Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.
›Why do I need to verify my phone?
Verification confirms you actually own the number, so it can be used for identity signals on your signature and for account recovery. It's separate from giving FieldNDA permission to text you.
›Why can't I edit a signed NDA?
A signed NDA is a legal record. Changing it after signing would destroy its evidentiary value. If something needs to change, void the current NDA and issue a new one.
›Why am I asked for SMS permission?
US messaging rules require explicit opt-in before a business texts you. FieldNDA sends one consent request; you reply YES to opt in or NO/STOP to decline.
›Can I receive NDAs without texting?
Yes. Email delivery is always available and always contains the NDA and signing link. SMS is optional.
›Why is there a certificate number?
It's a permanent anchor for verifying the executed NDA. It appears on the signature, certificate, and verification pages of the final PDF.
›What happens if I reply STOP?
You'll immediately stop receiving FieldNDA text messages. Email delivery and everything else about the NDA continues to work.
›How do I enable text notifications later?
Reply START to a previous FieldNDA text, or ask the sender to re-request consent. You can also manage your preferences from your Profile.
›Why do I have both email and text notifications?
Email is the source of truth and always contains the NDA. SMS is a faster convenience layer for things like reminders and countersign alerts.
›What information is stored?
Account info, NDA metadata, signing events with timestamps and IPs, and the executed PDF. See How We Protect Your Information for details.
›Can I download my audit history?
Yes — every NDA has an activity and audit trail viewable from its detail page, and the executed PDF includes the timeline and verification page.
