Understanding SMS Notifications

How text notifications work on FieldNDA — what they are, when they're sent, and how to control them.

The short version

FieldNDA can text you (or someone you're sending an NDA to) about a specific agreement — for example, a signing link, a reminder, or a status update.

Text notifications are always optional. Every NDA is also delivered by email, and email works whether or not text notifications are enabled.

Verified phone ≠ permission to text

Confirming that you own a phone number is a different step from giving FieldNDA permission to send text notifications to it. They're two separate things.

How it works

  1. 1A sender chooses to notify a recipient by SMS as well as email.
  2. 2FieldNDA checks whether that recipient has already granted SMS permission.
  3. 3If yes, the signing-link SMS goes out immediately.
  4. 4If not, FieldNDA sends a one-time consent request. The recipient replies YES to opt in, or NO/STOP to decline.
  5. 5Either way, the NDA is still delivered by email.

Keywords the recipient can text back

STOP — opt out of all future FieldNDA text messages.

START — opt back in after a previous STOP.

HELP or INFO — get a short message explaining who FieldNDA is and how to reach support.

If consent is revoked

If a recipient texts STOP, FieldNDA immediately stops sending SMS to that number. Nothing else about the NDA changes — email delivery, signing, and audit records all continue to work normally.
